No simple overview of God’s attributes, as revealed in scripture, would be complete without some basic knowledge of the love of God.
The Apostle John expressed this attribute of God as a noun in 1 John 4 stating, “God is love.”
The Apostle also provided an illustration of God’s love in action, in one of the most well-known verses in all of scripture, John 3:16. In this verse, John expresses God’s love as a verb;
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
As we continue to explore many of the doctrines revealed by God in the Bible. Doctrines such as: Salvation, Atonement, Justification, etc., we quickly realize, a significantly new relationship with God develops, and within that relationship, a new connection with His Love.
In Episode 5 of Knowing God we will dive deeper into the Love of God and how this attribute is exclusive to only Him. As a result, any ability mankind may develop to love as God loves, is a result of Him having first given it.
