Justice is a fairly common term in the secular worldview, and one that we tend to hear used more and more, especially with unnecessary adjectives. The term Justice needs no modification. It was the Greek philosopher, Aristotle who generally defined justice as, “Equal Treatment.” Thus, anyone claiming injustice, would suffer the burden of proof.
So, when the Bible reveals this attribute of God, the standards for what are moral, absolute truths develop, as only God determines what is Just.
We have a tendency to view actions by God in the short term, often leading us to question the fairness of God, or the guidance of God. However, mankind will only receive one of two things from God at any given time; His Mercy or His Justice. What mankind will never receive from God is injustice.
God alone, determines the distribution of His Justice or Mercy, but always for the ultimate good of His will, and to His glory alone. So, when we cry out for God to be fair, it is actually His mercy we are petitioning, as we deserve only His justice.
